Summer course
2008 for Montana State University and Utah University.
A numerous
number of private learners mainly from Spain, Switzerland,
Germany as well as from Australia have successfully
attended either our normal courses or our specially tailored
courses.
Feedback by
Dr.Dilworth Parkinson director of BYU
The
Alexandria Centre For Languages was the site of Brigham
Young University's Fall 2004 Intensive Arabic Semester
Abroad program. Having the center available was a godsend.
The staff and the director were extremely efficient, and
extremely well-connected. We "descended" upon them with 57
students the first week of September , and within a week we
had all the students in apartments in various places
throughout the city. Visas and other arrangements were
handled with equal efficiency, as well as club memberships
and other details. They even helped us arrange a large
number of cultural events, including concerts and art
exhibits. When crises arose (sicknesses, a students losing
their passports, etc.) they knew what to do and who to call.
In short, many of the normal headaches associated with
directing a program like this, particularly one as large as
we had, were handled by the center much to the director's
relief.
Experience of an American
private learner:
Before
I came to Alexandria to continue studying Arabic, I faced
the same dilemma that most students encounter when trying to
select a program in Egypt that fits their academic and
personal goals. In a country that is home to a
seemingly endless list of schools specializing in the Arabic
language, how does a person choose from all of the
possibilities? I eventually decided to study at the
Alexandria Centre for Languages (ACL)—It did not take me
long to realize I made the correct decision.
